It is now official - KÄSITÖÖ magazine spring issue has on cover dress made by me. Also styling work, hair and makeup. Photo by my bf and me (we are shooting usually by turns and later editing photos together also). Cover star is Maris, sweet and spontaneous, pure joy to work with. I had obsession to have redhead model for my dresses this time, it was hard to find one. I finally found Maris, our first meeting took place just the same day we had to shoot. But it was like we know each other long time already :)
KÄSITÖÖ will be published Feb 7th. Soon I´ll share more photos!

I have been addicted to parkas some time already. Isabel Marant FW collection was the last drop - the label has such amazing oversized biker jackets with cosy white fur. I just had to sew myself a parka with white fur lining immediately! So I opened my enormous fabric counter and used materials I had long time or leftovers from previous projects. The only thing I bought was the short haired fur. So now I have a super warm parka and a little room for new fabrics :)
My parka is more similar to traditional. From Isabel I stole only white curly fur idea and oversized form - my parka has huge pockets and hood. Also it is the first not fitted overdress I have made to myself. Ok winter, you can come now!

And, oh yes, my blond time is over... Just needed a change.

My love to camel colored wool turned this time into this feminine jacket. All details are softly shaped and draped. Fake fur cuffs add little contrast.
It has quilted interlining and snap closure in brass .

Oh it is so grey outside already, that´s why it is better to put some color around you. You can follow the instructions from recently published KÄSITÖÖ winter issue and make a sweet roses top like here. Just take some time for pleating those sleeves and sewing this lovely Peter Pan collar in brightest yellow silk. You can find pattern for the skirt from magazine, too.

I found a beautiful silk fabric - like painted with bright watercolors. I knew immediately it will be an airy blouse. so it turned out, shorter on front and with wide gathered sleeves.

here is a little bag i have made for Erle´s birthday. she is a teacher at forestry school and knows lots about bugs, too. so this purse is perfect for hiding some little fellas for her students in it :)
purse is made of denim and stitched on firm material for better hold. it has golden bugs printed on raw silk and golden satin lining. some hand stitched studs cover magnetic closure.

some days ago the new issue of KÄSITÖÖ magazine was published. this time I had several items there and here are two of them. thinking about upcoming party season I made a skirt with chiffon frills and matching blouse with superwide sleeves. just add a bow made of silk ribbon and some shiny Mary Jane´s!

some days ago I decided to blow dust away from my drawing skills. I was looking around at style.com and choosed some looks from Marni´s SS 11 collection. all models are wearing weird leather hats and i really like all those prints and colors and structured clothes.
just drawing was little bit boring to me, so i made some mixed media collages using fabric and simple embroidery.

today I made some brooches. on first one I used felt, a bird printed on that and some spangles. the second one is fringed vith velvet ribbon and also I stiched some pearls into the edge.
aren´t those perfect to adorn your coat in those chilly and dark fall evenings? and be aware of those little fairies sneaking around, all aren´t friendly at all ;)

last week i made dress for M. i have tried new technique to create unusual surfaces - handstiched fine fabric on thicker one. it took a lot of time, but it was worth it, i guess :) then i made just a simple lace part for top. lace has its own pattern, but its delicate enough not to compete to the skirt part. with permission from M i styled the dress for the shoot in 50´style with big rose, glasses and - as they say - with cabbage roll in the hair. M was wearing the dress without the rosepin, with belt and long brown hair - exactly the same tone as the skirt part is.

this weekend was just so nice and perfect! little bit landlife, amazing cafe with yummy cakes, sunshine and hanging around with my bf in Pärnu and Viljandi... life seems perfect and easy again :)
we visited amazing cafe Supelsaksad (something like Fancy Swimmers in english) in Pärnu. it is designed by one of my favorited Estonian (book, poster and set) designer and photographer Ruth Huimerind and by her daughter Anna. i was so amazed!!! the details and photos and furniture and cakes and all...i wanted to move in immediately! :) you can cast a glance to Ruth´s fantastic world here.

yesterday my bf and i had fun on abandoned Raadi airfield. environment there looks quite sad, but spring was in the air and we were happy anyway.
i think you dont have to look lovely and feminine all the time. sometimes you just want to wear those little bit ugly but cool jeans (btw with heels they look more fab!). red lipstick and glamourous touch in your hairdo can do the trick and save you look too ghetto.

Here´s the dress i have made last year. But I decided to add it to my little collection for magazine Käsitöö. So already in May there is a tutorial and patterns also to make your own version of my Mediterrania dress! It is made of dye die jersey and it took about 3 hours to make. I spent most of the time adding little studs to the frontpanel.
I think this dress is very versatile - adding little jacket and some jewellery can dress you up. Some flip-flops and you are ready to go to the beach...
I wish it were summer already...

Sometimes is better keep things simple and then add some little extra to make it shine. Simple leggins with long top with gathered little sleeves looks pretty casual. But adding an embellished neckpiece makes it something special. And all this monochrome outfit needs, is a droplet of mint...

last weekend my boyfriend and I blew dust away from my skiining skills. it was obviously ambition grandiose to hit 15km piste on the second day, but i survived! nature was breathtaking and hills high enough to say now - it was really nice weekend.

golden fall

fall is a royal season with all those golden colors. i found a luxurious fabric last year and turned it into coat. purple is perfect match for gold and so is black. any objections?
i love fall, especially when there is a little sun. but when it rains, everything turns sad...
no more golden colors and royal feeling. then i just want to be near my big stove and have a good cup of tea. just like crown family members probably do at rainy days...

i love faded colors. this old tree with sandy bole at the botanical garden. those DIY jeans that are not dark anymore, but creamy white and gray. this vintage brooch with faded brown stones my best friend gave to me as birthday present some years ago. this beautiful dog in unconventional pelage we met on the street today.
faded colors have this decorous and old-time feeling in it. nonchalant chic.

last weekend we found a forsaken military building at the Paljassaare peninsula. sun was just setting down and there was such a beautiful light. so we decided to come back next evening and took some photos. i choosed classic and simple pieces for that like plain white tank, selfmade black pencil skirt and vintage trench in leopard print. i had also the lionhead-necklace from Urban Outfitters and Zara gladiator heels. urban cool in a rough place, all draped with sweet sunlight...

Kadri had an emergency request - she needs immediately a new hoodie for a weekend!!! so i took a quick trip to the fabric store, inspected my collection of crab drawings and reserved yesterday to put the whole thing together. i made a hood lined with silkiest ivory satin and printed crabs into the front and back. Kadri is most pleasant girl i know and we had a little spirited photoshoot with this newborn-hoodie today. she wears here also her cool Miss Sixty sandals and jumpsuit from Monton.

I made this butter soft top to try out new sleeve variations inspired by Marc Jacobs looks this fall. on the front I made an embroidery with style icon, tomboy and TV presenter Alexa Chung. my friend Kadi came by and snapped it right away. so you can meet Alexa and Kadi walking in Geneva now, which is Kadi´s hometown. my neighbours cat, who you can see on the picture above, walks still here in backyards. Kadi has a cat too, named Nilsson, who looks pretty much the same and has a very fancy life. summers in Estonia, winters in Geneva and vacations in Cannes...i´m not kidding at all :)

this peach-colored top is vol. 2 from my flashdance post some time ago. Karin saw it here and wanted it right away. unfortunately it was sold out, so I made a new one with another embroidered picture. top is shown here with bleached and ripped jeans I have made a while ago. i am really happy how they turned out. jeans were originally black and transformed into beautiful creamy off-white. gladiator heels from Zara.
...and I love summer evenings in my bathroom when the sun plays in the chandelier! all is full of frisky sunblinkers as you can see on the picture above.

i bought this jumpsuit in Barcelona. i love those bright and warm colors, different fabrics and oriental touch! i can wear it as under the knee version (shown here). or shorter or longer down to the ankle. perfect for summer because it´s chic and airy and comfortable at the same time.
I paired it with sky high yellow snakeskin Zara heels (from Barcelona again) and studded bracelet from H&M.
...and this jumpsuit reminds me all those great days and nights I had in Spain. just like in One Thousand and One Nights fairy tales taking place in modern world somewhere at the Costa Brava coast...

i had a wonderful holiday in Europe, 17 days in Germany, France, Spain, Switzerland... that is also the reason why I was such a careless blogger for a while. i made this dress specially for this vacation, just the night before i had to go. i found this fabric in the store and knew right away that´s the one to hit Mediterranean Sea. i got plenty of attention because of the dress and even had a job in Barcelona as magician´s assistant!
anyway, I´m back. working and blogging again :)

i adore Liselotte Watkins! Liselotte is a swedish - american illustrator and stylist, who´s pictures are absolutely stunning! even Miuccia Prada knows that. some seasons ago the whole MiuMiu collection was made from fabric with LW drawings.
i made this jacket for myself a while ago. onto flaps i made embroidery inspired from Liselottes drawings. fabric is a little bit glossy, so its sporty and chic at the same time. jacket is shown here with Zara jumpsuit and second hand studded belt.

as you may know, miss Barbie had a big birthday party this year. this tiny miss turned 50, believe it or not. all ladies want to look like B in her 50s for sure! or maybe not - you cant´t probably eat your own birthday cake because Barbie´s waist in normal human size is 33cm!
anyway, next week there will be an exhibition in Tallinna Kaubamaja at the new Beauty World. and different designers made dresses for miss B. so did I.
first, I made a collage from photos and ephemera, then printed it onto silk fabric and made skirt with 12 different layers. for top, I had felt fabric, feathers and silk ribbon. I hope miss B likes this!

i just love this skirt! i made it for Erle again, for a party coming next week. beautiful hammered satin in bright orange, pleated in bubble skirt. i made also a quilted satin belt to accent hourglass shape. easy to make, easy to wear! skirt is shown here on me, with my beloved Zara gladiator sandals and second hand angora turtleneck.

i´m still inspired of a book my friend gave me for birthday last year. Cabinet Of Natural Curiosities is full of old color plates filled with most amazing creatures of nature. And for sure it´s the biggest and heaviest book i´ve ever had! This hoodie has crustacea in front (printed to silk fabric) and wide silk ribbon to add some softness to the formal sportswear.

i have bought some fabrics in coral tones and want to turn them into juicy spring tops and shirts. so far i have to work on my interior project, i take some inspiration from pages of MAGASIN filled with i-want-them-now clothes. but i have some little goodies to complete look the already:
